The American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2016 (Public Law No. 114-159) reinstating and reforming the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) process has been recently published.The MTB is a process by which the US Congress authorizes the temporary suspension or reduction of tariffs on products imported into the United States. Companies interested in requesting duty suspension for new or previously approved products will need to file a petition.This Act establishes a process for the submission and consideration of petitions and public comments for duty suspensions and reductions for imported goods in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States. The collection periods are 60-day periods starting October 15, 2016 and October 15, 2019.American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2016 (Public Law No. 114-159)
