Around 70 participants had the opportunity to exchange information on world production and marketing of dried grapes. Guest speaker, Mr. Simon Melik, presented the activities of the Dried Fruit Alliance.
Originally planned to be held in Greece, the onsite conference had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19-restrictions; instead, an online meeting was organized by the Aegean Exporters Association (Turkey). Mr. Osman Oz and Mrs. Ece Tirkaz from the Aegean Exporters Association were the elected Chairman and Secretary, respectively. Mr. Mark King from Dried Fruits Australia was the elected Deputy Chairman.
The expected world supply for 2020 was presented during the meeting, showing and overall availability of Sultanas and Raisins increased by 1% from 2019, mainly due to a 20% increment in the total carryover and in spite the slightly decreased production (1.1% below 2019). Goldens and Currants marketable supply is estimated up by 18% and 45% from 2019, respectively.
