The Proposal was prepared to vary maximum residue limits (MRLs) for certain agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemicals in Schedule 20 to align with Codex standards and those of trading partners for food commodities to be imported to Australia. It also aligns MRLs in Schedule 20 with the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) MRL Standard for residues of agvet chemicals proposed for deletion, increases or reductions. On October 3, 2017, FSANZ also issued a proposal to Amend Schedule 20 of the revised Food Standards Code. Among others, the amendment deletes the residue of pyraclostrobin in tree nuts (except pistachio nut) at *0.01, and inserts the residue of pyraclostrobin in tree nuts (except pistachio nut and walnut) at *0.01 and in walnut at T1 (* indicates that the maximum residue limit is set at the limit of determination; and ‘T’ indicates that the maximum residue limit is a temporary maximum residue limit). The final date for comments was October 31, 2017. The amendment can be found here.
