Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has published a Proposal to Amend Schedule 20 of the revised Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (1 November 2016 – Proposed amendment (Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Instrument No. 4 (MRL Standard) Amendment Instrument 2016 (No. 14))).The Proposal aims to align certain maximum residue limits (MRL) for various agricultural and veterinary chemicals, so that they are consistent with other national regulations relating to the safe and effective use of agricultural and veterinary chemicals.Among others, the amendment removes the MRL for sulfoxaflor in dried grapes (currants, raisins and sultanas) at 10 ppm and adds the MRL for sulfoxaflor in tree nuts (except macadamia nuts) at 0.02 ppm.The deadline for public comments was November 29, 2016.More information
