Brief COVID-19 Update: July 28, 2021

The world seems to be in the early stages of another wave of infections and deaths despite of vaccination efforts. Unvaccinated people account for a big part of new cases. An increase in cases also creates more opportunities for the virus to mutate, which may lead to the emergence of new variants.

COVID-19 Update: July 21, 2021

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases now exceeds 188.6 million (12% of increase as compared to the previous week) and the number of deaths has surpassed 4 million, according to the latest World Health Organization (WHO) figures. A total of about 3.4 billion vaccine doses have been administered.

Brief COVID-19 Update: July 7, 2021

With over 183 million COVID-19 cases and almost 4 million deaths reported globally, the number of new cases remained similar to the previous week, and the number of new deaths continued to decrease. Africa is the region that has recorded a sharp increase in incidence and mortality. The Eastern Mediterranean and European Regions also reported increases in the number of cases. All regions (except Africa) reported a decline in the number of new deaths.
