Walnuts May Help Modulate Gut Microbiota

This study was recently published in the journal Nutrients. Its main objective was to evaluate the impact of a diet enriched with walnuts on the gut microbiota composition and function in healthy adults during three days, according to their urolithin metabotypes –a group of metabolites produced by human colon microflora from ellagic acid and related compounds.

According to the European Federation of the Trade in Dried Fruit & Edible Nuts, Processed Fruit & Vegetables, Processed Fishery products, Spices, Honey (FRUCOM), the European Commission is discussing potential changes to the cadmium levels for different food commodities, including tree nuts and peanuts.
