Cacogeusia following pine nut ingestion: a six patient case series.

This is a retrospective case series of 6 patients complaining of a bad taste (cacogeusia) specifically metallogeusia, following the ingestion of pine nuts. The taste arose always within 48 h of ingestion, and in all but one patient spontaneously resolved within 14 days. Pine nuts also have a potential for triggering anaphylaxis.

Pinolenic acid inhibits human breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cell metastasis in vitro

Pinolenic acid (PNA); a naturally-occurring polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA); is found mainly in pine seeds. Although many studies have demonstrated beneficial effects of pine seed oil; there are no reports of the biological effects of PNA on cancer metastasis. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of PNA on human breast cancer […]

Modelling spatial and temporal variability in a zero-inflated variable: The case of stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) cone production

Modelling masting habit; i.e. the spatial synchronized annual variability in fruit production; is a huge task due to two main circumstances: (1) the identification of main ecological factors controlling fruiting processes; and (2) the common departure of fruit data series from the main basic statistical assumptions of normality and independence. Stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) […]
