Chaired by Mr. Larry McHugh, GMC members from the main macadamia producing countries reviewed the aims and structure of the Council, discussed global supply and demand, and future projections, demand stimulation and new market development, and the harmonization of standards. May 2018 saw the constitution of the GMC by industry leaders from Australia, South Africa, Brazil and China. Later on, Kenya and Colombia also joined the Council. GMC priorities are to support research into health, harmonizing quality standards and defining a key message for the macadamia sector.
