The first genomic resources for Phymatotrichopsis omnivora, a soil-borne pezizomycete pathogen with a broad host range

Phymatotrichopsis omnivora is a destructive plant pathogen causing root rot disease of alfalfa, cotton, pecan, grape, and many other important dicotyledonous species. A member of the family Rhizinaceae, in the class Pezizomycetes, P. omnivora is a soilborne ascomycete fungus that is difficult to maintain in culture, currently genetically intractable, and for which there are no […]

Optimization of deficit irrigation and nitrogen fertilizer management for peanut production in an arid region

Deficit irrigation (DI) has been emerging as an important technique for enhancing crop water productivity (WP). However, advantage of DI under varying nitrogen (N) application rates remains unclear. Field experiments were conducted during 2012-2014 to investigate the impacts of six irrigation levels[FI (full irrigation), DI10, DI20, DI30, DI40 and DI50, with irrigation amount of 100, […]

Ecology of Diaporthe eres, the causal agent of hazelnut defects

Diaporthe eres has been recently reported as the causal agent of hazelnut defects, with characteristic brown spots on the kernels surface and internal fruit discoloration. Knowledge regarding the ecology of this fungus is poor but, is critical to support a rationale and effective hazelnut crop protection strategy. Therefore, a study was performed to describe and […]

Peanut disease epidemiology under dynamic microclimate conditions and management practices in North Florida

Diverse field characteristics, weather patterns, and management practices can result in variable microclimates. The objective was to relate in-field microclimate conditions with peanut diseases and yield and determine the effect of irrigation and fungicides within these environments. Irrigation did not have a major impact on disease and yield. Stem rot (Athelia rolfsii) and early (Passalora […]

First Report of Stem Canker of Almond Trees Caused by Fusarium solani in Greece

Almond (Prunus dulcis) is an important crop for Greece grown on 15.130 ha in 2019. In September 2019, a severe stem canker disease was observed in 6-year-old trees of cv Marta grafted on the rootstock 'F675C14', in a new almond grove of cvs Marta, Soleta, Antonela, Belona and Laurete, in Vlachiana, Heraklion, Crete, Greece. Only […]
