The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published the Dietary reference values for thiamin.Thiamin (vitamin B1) is a water-soluble vitamin present in whole grains, pulses, red meat, fish, seeds and nuts. Thiamin deficiency leads to disorders that include several forms of beriberi, with mostly neurological and cardiovascular manifestations.EFSA endorses a Population Reference Intake (PRI) of 0.1 mg per megajoule of energy (0.4 mg/1,000 kcal) requirements for all population groups older than 7 months.Scientific opinion on dietary reference values for thiamin.
