The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) published the Report “The State of Food and Agriculture” highlighting the role of agriculture in eradicating hunger and in addressing the threat of the climatic change.Agriculture, including forestry, fisheries and livestock production, and food systems need to be transformed in order to ensure global food security, provide economic and social opportunities for all, protect the ecosystem and build resilience to climate change.Significant improvements in food security and climate change can be achieved with the introduction of sustainable agricultural practices. In addition, diversification, by integrating production of crops, livestock and trees or by non-farm rural employment or migration to cities, can further enhance the farmers’ resilience and reduce the impact of climate shocks on income. The report gathers the projected changes in crop yields due to climate change from a broad range of published studies. Results show that the estimated yield change in peanuts in the period 2010/29 are dissimilar depending on the geographical location: -7.1 (West Africa), -2.2 (Central Africa), -1.2 (Southeast Asia), -0.5 (Sahel), 1.2 (South Asia and Southern Africa), 2.0 (China) and 3.5 (East Africa). The State of Food and Agriculture
