The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources of Australia is amending the imported food safety system in order to improve the protection of the consumer health. A public consultation is open until May 4, 2017.Improvements seek to increase importers accountability for food safety and importers sourcing safe food, as well as improve monitoring and management of new and emerging food safety risks and incident response.It is expected that the Imported Food Control Amendment Bill 20XX will be presented to the Australian Parliament in mid-2017 and will become effective during 2018.More information
