Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has published a Proposal to Amend Schedule 20 of the revised Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (6 September 2016 – Proposed amendment (Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Instrument No. 4 (MRL Standard) Amendment Instrument 2016 (No. 12))).The proposal aims to align certain maximum residue limits (MRL) for various agricultural and veterinary chemicals, so that they are consistent with other national regulations relating to the safe and effective use of agricultural and veterinary chemicals.Among others, the amendment sets the MRL for spinetoram in tree nuts (except almonds) at 0.02 ppm and in macadamia nuts at *0.01 ppm (* indicates that the maximum residue limit is set at the limit of determination).The deadline for public comments was October 4, 2016.
