EU: Reflection Paper on Sustainability

The European Commission published a Reflection Paper on a Sustainable Europe by 2030 as a part of the EU's firm commitment to deliver on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

EU: Flutianil, Pesticide Approval

The European Commission published the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/481 of 22 March 2019 approving the active substance flutianil, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market, and amending the Annex to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011.

EU: Pesticide Withdrawals

The European Commission notified the World Trade Organization of the Drafts Commission Implementing Regulation concerning the non-renewal of approval of the active substances thiophanate-methyl and dimethoate, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market, and amending the Annex to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011.

EU: MRLs Update, Draft Commission Regulation

The European Commission notified the World Trade Organization of the Draft Commission Regulation amending Annexes II, III and V to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards maximum residue levels for amitrole, fipronil, flufenoxuron, flupyrsulfuron-methyl, imazosulfuron, isoproturon, orthosulfamuron and triasulfuron in or on certain products.

EU: Plastic Materials

The European Commission published the Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/37 of 10 January 2019 amending and correcting Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

Chile: Import Requirements

The Agriculture and Livestock Service of Chile notified the World Trade Organization of the entry into force of the phytosanitary requirements governing the importation into Chile of walnuts from Argentina and almonds from Australia.

US: Pesticide Petitions

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has received several initial filings of pesticide petitions requesting the establishment or modification of regulations for residues of pesticide chemicals in or on various commodities.
