China, Taiwan: MRLs Update

The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu notified the World Trade Organization of the Standards for Pesticide Residue Limits in Foods.

China: Additional Tariffs

According to a USDA GAIN Report, on September 24, 2018, China applied 5% to 10% extra tariffs on US products including peanuts (in-shell and shelled), roasted peanuts and peanut butter in response of the US additional 10% tariffs on Chinese technology and consumer products.

Canada: MRLs Update

Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency announced the following proposed maximum residue limits (PMRL) for afidopyropen and picoxystrobin.

Brazil: Microbiological Criteria on Foods

The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency notified the World Trade Organization of the Normative Instruction (Instrução Normativa) number 542, 17 July 2018, which establishes the lists of microbiological criteria for food safety and hygiene.

USA: MRLs Update

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency established tolerances for residues of afidopyropen in or on multiple commodities.
 

UNECE Workshop, Agri-Food Supply Chains in Cross-Border Trade of Nuts and Dried Fruits

The INC participated in the Workshop on Agri-Food Supply Chains in Cross-Border Trade of Nuts and Dried Fruits, held on September 11-13, 2018, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The workshop was hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and counted with the support of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and other organizations whose work promotes international cooperation.

USA: Market Facilitation Program

On September of 25, 2018, the U.S. Commodity Credit Corporation and Farm Service Agency notified the availability Market Facilitation Program (MFP) funds for eligible producers of shelled almonds.

USA-Korea: Free Trade Agreement

On September 24, 2018, the US and Korea signed an updated Free Trade Agreement (KORUS) which includes several renovated customs guidelines.
