Many studies have shown that consuming nuts does not cause weight gain, however, fewer studies have examined the effect on people with type 2 diabetes. Nutrition Reviews recently published a paper that explored this relationship.

Researchers looked to four databases to gather randomized controlled trials that examined how consuming nuts affected body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, and body fat percentage. In total, 15 randomized controlled trials with 899 individuals were included in the study. The results concluded that nut consumption did not lead to any weight gain or adiposity parameters for individuals with type 2 diabetes.
