The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India notified the World Trade Organization of the Draft Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Amendment Regulations 2018.
The draft details the limits of metal contaminants, aflatoxins and mycotoxins in foods. As for nuts and dried fruits, the draft sets the following maximum limits:
The ML for total aflatoxins in nuts for further processing and ready to eat is 15 ppb.
The ML for total aflatoxins in dried figs is 10 ppb.
The ML for aflatoxin B1 in nuts for further processing and ready to eat is 10 ppb.
