USA: Food Labeling Modernization Act

On August 3, the Food Labeling Modernization Act of 2021 was introduced to the House and the Senate with the aim of establishing a single, standard front-of-package nutrition labeling system.

The bill is intended to strengthen current law to target trends in marketing that confuse or mislead consumers when they are attempting to compare food products. Specifically, the legislation will require new guidelines for the use of the words “natural” and “healthy”.
