EU: Organic Import

The European Commission has published the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2329 of 14 December 2017 amending and correcting Regulation (EC) No 1235/2008 laying down detailed rules for implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 as regards the arrangements for imports of organic products from third countries.

EU: Glyphosate

On December 15, the European Commission published the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2324 of 12 December 2017 renewing the approval of the active substance glyphosate until 15 December 2022.

EU: Duty Suspension on Dried Cranberries

On December 12, 2017, the European Commission published the Council Regulation (EU) 2017/2467 of 21 December 2017 amending Regulation (EU) No 1387/2013 suspending the autonomous Common Customs Tariff duties on certain agricultural and industrial products.

USA: Applications to Register Pesticides

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has received applications to register pesticide products containing active ingredients not included in any currently registered pesticide products.

EFSA: MRLs Review

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published the Reasoned Opinion on “Review of the existing MRLs for quizalofop-P-ethyl, quizalofop-P-tefuryl and propaquizafop according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005”.

USA: MRLs Update

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency established tolerances for residues of nitrapyrin and ziram.

China: MRLs Update

In the Newsletter No. 209, INC announced that China notified of the National Food Safety Standard that establishes maximum residue limits for the residues of 122 pesticides.

South Korea: Standards and Specifications for Foods

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of the Republic of Korea notified the World Trade Organization of the Proposed Amendments to the Standards and Specifications for Foods. Among others, the amendment establishes and revises the maximum residue levels for 48 pesticides, including Diquat, and establishes test methods for two pesticides (Fluxametamide and Tiafenacil).
