The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) will welcome over 1,500 industry leaders from more than 60 countries to the prestigious 2024 INC Congress, taking place May 8-10 at the Palma Convention Centre in Mallorca, Spain. This premier gathering of company owners, presidents, and CEOs represents an unparalleled opportunity for global industry leaders to network, collaborate, and develop strategies for sustainable growth in the nut and dried fruit sector.
The three-day congress program will provide a dynamic platform for dialogue, debate, and discovery. Attendees will delve into crucial topics shaping the industry landscape, including crops, product and market trends, sustainability, and the latest scientific breakthroughs in nutrition research. - INC Sustainability Program: A New Global Initiative: During the opening session of the Congress, INC Executive Director Goretti Guasch will unveil an exciting new INC program geared towards fostering a more sustainable future for the nut and dried fruit industry.
- Keynote Presentation: Celebrated tennis coach Toni Nadal, Ambassador of the Mallorca-based Rafa Nadal Academy, will deliver an inspiring keynote address entitled “Building a Champion’s Mindset: Lessons From the Court.” Drawing on lessons from his illustrious career guiding one of the greatest tennis players of all time, this uplifting talk will explore themes such as commitment, self-improvement, coping with failure, and not glorifying success.
- Nutrition Research Seminar: Led by esteemed Prof. Jordi Salas-Salvadó, this session will showcase cutting-edge insights into the health benefits of nuts and dried fruits. Dr. Sangeetha Shyam, Miguel Servet Investigator at the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute in Spain, will deliver an insightful address as guest speaker, illuminating recent advances in nutritional science and empowering attendees with actionable knowledge to promote health and wellness.
- Contracts and Consequences: Led by Giles Hacking, Chair of the INC Business Integrity Committee, this practical session will address critical contractual topics for industry professionals. A senior partner from the prestigious law firm Clyde & Co will discuss key contractual obligations regarding payment terms and shipment of goods, and representatives of INC-recognized arbitration organizations will give an overview of their organizations’ expertise.
- Thematic Round Tables: Distinguished industry leaders will facilitate discussions focused on specific nuts and dried fruits, exploring recent production and trade data and providing invaluable perspectives and insights.
INC Awards
Recognizing excellence in the industry, the INC will bestow prestigious awards upon deserving individuals and organizations. This year, the Corporate Golden Nut Award, the nut and dried fruit industry’s highest honor, will go to Mercadona. Disfrutar, the Barcelona-based restaurant currently ranked as the world’s best, will receive the INC Award for Excellence in Gastronomy. Dr. David Baer, Research Leader in the Agricultural Research Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will be honored with the INC Award for Excellence in Research. Additionally, winners of the INC Innovation Award and the Award for Excellence in Sustainability will be revealed during the event, highlighting groundbreaking contributions and initiatives driving positive change in the sector.
