The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore has notified the World Trade Organization of the Draft Food (Amendment) Regulations 2017.Among others, the draft proposes the following:

  • To allow the use of some new additives and ingredients: beet red and spirulina extract, bet-palmitin, L-thealine, sodium ferrous citrate and 219 new enzymes.
  • To extend the use of some existing food additives to additional food categories: propionic acid, sulphur dioxide and sulphites, quillaia extracts, steviol glycosides and polyglycerol polyricinoleate.
  • To delete the maximum residue limits for 11 pesticides: captafol, carbophenothion, chlordimeform (and its metabolites), crufomate, dioxathion, diphenyl, etrimfos, fenchlorphos, fensulphothion, formothion and mevinphos.

The final date for comments is March 11, 2017. The proposed date of publication and adoption is March 2017.For further information, please contact us at inc@nutfruit.org.
