Australia: Beehive Movement Restrictions in Place to Combat Varroa Mite
Restrictions on beehive movements are in place in some parts of Australia in order to limit the spread of the varroa mite, a parasite of honeybees. As restrictions and/or requirements are subject to change, beekeepers are advised to check with the relevant authority in the jurisdiction they intend to move bees to. EU: Member States Adopt Negotiating Position on Green Claims Directive
On June 17, 2024, the Council of the EU adopted its position on the Green Claims Directive. Therefore, Member States will be able to begin trilogue negotiations with the Parliament and the Commission once the new legislative cycle gets underway.
EU: Eco-Score Label to Be Renamed
Following a judicial agreement reached in early June with the European umbrella organization for organic food and farming, the French consortium behind the Eco-Score label has agreed to stop using the name “Eco-Score” for its label by December 31, 2024.
