Proposed US-China Tariff Framework Includes Various Tree Nuts and Dried Fruits

October 8, 2026

The United States and China advanced a new tariff framework on September 27, 2026, under their bilateral Board of Trade, recommending US$30 billion of non-sensitive goods in each direction for more favorable tariff treatment. US agricultural products form an important part of the goods selected for potential tariff relief.

The White House list of products recommended for improved treatment by China includes categories such as almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts, alongside dates, dried apricots, dried figs, prunes and dried grapes. The framework is a recommendation and product-level tariff changes still require implementation through the relevant domestic procedures.
