Cambodia and Team Europe reaffirmed their commitment to developing the country’s cashew sector during a joint high-level mission to Stung Treng province on August 17-18, 2026. Led by Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Dith Tina and EU Ambassador Igor Driesmans, the delegation visited Handcrafted Cashew Nuts Stung Treng and project sites under the EU-German Cambodia Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, or CAPSAFE, which supports post-harvest processing and quality assurance.
Minister Dith Tina said Cambodia is seeking to transform its agricultural sector from basic farming toward commercial production through modern agricultural communities and contract farming, with the aim of ensuring more reliable supplies for processors. He also highlighted efforts to raise food safety standards, sustainability and market competitiveness for key crops, including cashews.
Ambassador Driesmans said Team Europe is supporting Cambodian value chains through technical expertise, food safety and processing systems, particularly in the cashew sector. The support is intended to help local agribusinesses create higher-value products domestically and expand into premium export markets in line with the EU Global Gateway strategy.
