Health Canada is informing about the intention to prohibit the use of partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) in foods by adding PHOs to Part 1 of the List of Contaminants and Other Adulterating Substances in Foods.The prohibition is proposed to take effect in the summer of 2018, allowing industry stakeholders time to phase-out the use of PHOs.The deadline for comments is June 21, 2017.Notice of Proposal to Prohibit the Use of Partially Hydrogenated Oils in Foods – Reference Number: NOP/ADP-C-2017-3
