The Türkiye-based Aegean Exporters’ Associations issued a sector notice on October 14, 2026, addressing the proportion and disposal of aflatoxin- and mold-affected dried figs from the 2026 crop under its Aflatoxin-Contaminated Dried Figs Disposal Project.
The association said its 2026 assessment followed visits to processing facilities, feedback from member companies and review by the board of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association. The notice updates the sector framework used to identify and remove affected product from commercial channels.
The association also shared two supporting documents: implementation guidelines covering the inspection, collection, disposal and reimbursement of aflatoxin-contaminated dried figs at processing facilities, along with sample application forms for requesting payment, authorizing signatories and arranging the transfer of affected figs.
