The main objective of this study published recently in the British Journal of Nutrition was to observe the daily inclusion of walnuts (43g/day) to the habitual diet of free-living older adults (walnut group) and then compared with a similar group of participants but abstaining from walnut consumption (control group).

This study, published recently in Food & Function journal conducted a search through PUBMED and EMBASE to evaluate the nut-mortality association. Previous studies showed a consistent inverse association between nut consumption and all-cause mortality, but the associations with cause-specific mortality remained unclear.
