Mediterranean Diet and Pistachios May Reduce Incidence of Gestational Diabetes

This study evaluated the incidence of Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in pregnant women following a Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and pistachios. The study was published recently in PLoS One journal and observed that the incidence of GDM may be reduced with an early nutritional intervention based on the supplementation of the Mediterranean diet with an increased consumption of EVOO and pistachios.
Nut Consumption and Cardiovascular Health, New Study from Harvard

The study analyzed the associations between the intake of total and specific types of nuts and cardiovascular disease (CVD), coronary heart disease (CHD), and stroke risk. The study, which is the largest to date looking at the frequency of nut consumption and CVD, has been published recently in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
