Nut Consumption is Associated with Reduced Mortality

This study, published recently in Food & Function journal conducted a search through PUBMED and EMBASE to evaluate the nut-mortality association. Previous studies showed a consistent inverse association between nut consumption and all-cause mortality, but the associations with cause-specific mortality remained unclear.  

 

Walnut Consumption May Help Induce Favourable Nutrient Profile in Elderly People

Diet quality is known to decline among elderly people, whom require higher levels of nutrients to promote and maintain an optimal health status. The main objective of this study published recently in the British Journal of Nutrition was to observe the daily inclusion of walnuts (43g/day) to the habitual diet of free-living older adults (walnut group) and then compared with a similar group of participants but abstaining from walnut consumption (control group).

INC participated at the 2017 China International Tree Nuts Conference, from 2 to 4 August, in Guangzhou. Under the auspices of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal by-Products, the Shangri-La Hotel hosted seminars, an exhibition and matchmaking meetings.
