On July 31, 2026, the European Commission published an implementing resolution extending the suspension of rebalancing measures that provided for additional customs duties on the import of certain US goods into the EU.
The rebalancing measures had originally been adopted in July 2025, in the context of a trade dispute with the US and the threat of high US tariffs on EU goods. After the EU and the US reached a political agreement regarding their trade relationship, the rebalancing measures were suspended in August 2025. This suspension was extended in February 2026 and was set to expire on August 6, 2026.
Although the new implementing resolution extends the suspension of the rebalancing measures indefinitely, the Commission will keep the suspension under continuous review.
