We were very sad to hear of the death, on July 9, of Jorge Carqueja, INC Ambassador of Portugal. He will be dearly missed.
Jorge began his career in 1978 at his grandfather’s almond export business founded in 1928. He soon started to endorse the health benefits of nuts and dried fruits through TV, media and postage stamps, and collaborating with the academic world in the promotion of nuts and dried fruits in Portugal. He was invited by António Magalhães to join the organization of the INC Congress in Lisbon in 1988. He became member of the INC that same year and INC Ambassador in 2005.
