INC Members Invited to Comment on Work Towards OTA Code of Practice

September 17, 2026

The 19th session of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Foods (CCCF19) will be held on October 19-23, 2026, and the INC will be participating remotely.

Ahead of this meeting, the Codex Alimentarius Secretariat has distributed a circular letter seeking comment in relation to the development of a Code of Practice for the prevention and reduction of ochratoxin A (OTA) in dried fruits, one of the items on the CCCF19 agenda.

As background, in 2025, CCCF18 agreed to establish an electronic working group (EWG) tasked with refining the discussion paper and project document for the development of a Code of Practice (CoP) for the prevention and reduction of OTA contamination in dried fruits—specifically raisins, dried apricots, dried figs, dried dates and prunes—for consideration by CCCF19. The EWG, in which the INC has taken part as an observer, has produced a discussion paper, project proposal and proposed CoP for consideration at CCCF19.

The circular letter invites Codex members and observers to provide comments on the recommendations outlined in the discussion paper.

INC members are invited to contact us with their comments and input on this issue by September 30, 2026.
