Myanmar: New Requirement for Pre-packaged Food Product Labels

Myanmar’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) that, pursuant to Directive 1/2026 and in accordance with the implementation of the FDA’s e-submission system, food business operators are required to display the Food Product Code on the labels of all pre-packaged food products (HS codes 15-22). The Food Product Code must be obtained through the online Food Product Notification system and may be presented on the product label by direct printing, sticker application or QR code. Food business operators are granted a grace period of one year and six months from the date of issuance (January 20, 2026) to achieve full compliance with the labeling requirements.
