INC Tariff Report & Updates

During the month of November, the INC informed members about several major tariff-related developments, including Trump’s executive order rolling back tariffs on various tree nuts, an update on the Chinese tariffs applied to US tree nuts, and China’s decision to halt port fees on US-linked vessels for a year, plus updates on progress towards trade deals between the USA and Vietnam and between India and the EU.

November was a busy month for the INC! First, we travelled to Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the UNECE agricultural quality standards meeting. Then, we attended the 38th European Trade Meeting, hosted by the Waren-Verein der Hamburger Börse e.V. in Hamburg, Germany. Finally, we attended the online meeting of Türkiye-EU Cooperation Scheme on Hazelnuts. Also this month, the 65th International Seedless Dried Grape Producing Countries Conference was held in Upington, South Africa.

New Study Links Peanut Consumption to Improved Brain Blood Flow and Memory

A new clinical trial published in the journal Clinical Nutrition has found that eating peanuts daily may enhance brain vascular function and support memory performance in older adults. A recent study has found that higher intakes of total nuts and tree nuts are associated with significantly lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease (CVD) and ischemic heart disease (IHD).
