EU: Parliamentary Committee Approves Compromise Agreement on Packaging and Packaging Waste

On March 19, 2024, the European Parliament’s Committee on Environment (ENVI) voted to approve the compromise agreement on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. A plenary session of the outgoing Parliament is expected to vote on the proposal in late April.

EU: Forced Labor Ban Clears Key Hurdles

On March 20, 2024, the Permanent Representatives of the EU Member States (Coreper I) adopted the compromise text on the proposed regulation prohibiting products made with forced labor. Members of the European Parliament’s International Trade Committee (INTA) and Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) voted to adopt the compromise text on the same day. A plenary session of the outgoing Parliament is expected to vote on the proposal in late April.
