2023 Corporate Circular Target-Setting Guidance

At the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the Circular Economy Indicators Coalition released its 2023 Corporate Circular Target-Setting Guidance. This guidance seeks to provide businesses with a clear launching point for selecting and reporting against impactful circular targets. The coalition is co-hosted by the Platform for Accelerating the Circular Economy (PACE), Circle Economy and supported by Accenture.

SBTN Public Consultation for the First Land Science-Based Targets

The Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) is seeking public comment on their draft methodologies for companies to set the first land science-based targets —focusing on the protection and restoration of ecosystems. The public consultation period has been extended until March 21, 2023. The aim of SBTN is to develop a methodology for science-based targets that will enable the corporate sector to align their own commitments to nature with the necessary speed and scale of action as determined by science.

WWF Report on Nature in Transition Plans

In this paper, World Wildlife Fund (WWF-UK) examines how to integrate nature into transition plans to support global goals for climate. They propose that businesses take a stepwise approach to integrating nature in existing transition planning frameworks by step 1) integrating nature into their climate transition planning to support the delivery of the Paris Agreement, and step 2) aligning transition plans with nature positive goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework agreed at COP 15, or similar agreements.

India: Consultation Paper on ESG Disclosures, Ratings and Investing

Large companies in India may be required to provide assurance on their environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) reporting and supply chain-level ESG disclosures, while ESG investing funds will face tighter portfolio and stewardship criteria, according to a new set of proposals released by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). SEBI launched a public consultation with deadline March 6, 2023.
