USA: Standard for Walnuts

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) reopened the comment period on the revision of the US Standards for Grades of Shelled Walnuts and Walnuts in the Shell.As previously announced in Newsletter No. 191, AMS opened a comment period on the revision of the Standard for Walnuts which closed on January 24, 2017. The new deadline to submit comments is April 24, 2017.AMS proposes the inclusion of red colored walnuts and the removal of the “Unclassified” section due to the increment of red walnut demand.
