From October 9–10, the world’s leading nutrition researchers will gather at the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) headquarters for NUTS 2025, a landmark meeting dedicated to advancing the science of nuts and dried fruits.
Chaired by Prof. Jordi Salas-Salvadó, Chairman of the INC World Forum for Nutrition Research and Dissemination and Distinguished Professor of Nutrition and ICREA-Acadèmia Researcher at Universitat Rovira i Virgili, NUTS 2025 builds on the success of previous events. The meeting provides a unique opportunity to review current evidence, highlight key findings, and explore new research directions, while fostering collaboration.
The event will feature 28 expert speakers from around the globe, who will review the latest evidence on the health impacts of nuts and dried fruits and explore emerging topics such as depression, immune function, renal health, and nutraceuticals.
An update will be provided on the INC-funded NUTPOOL study, a global initiative that pools data from multiple cohorts to strengthen the evidence on the health benefits of nut consumption. This will be followed by a panel discussion on health claims in Europe, the USA, and Canada, sharing current experiences and exploring future directions. Together, these sessions mark an important step toward achieving official health claims.
Prof. Salas-Salvadó commented: “NUTS 2025 serves as a critical milestone in charting the past, present, and future of research in this field, strengthening the evidence that will guide dietary recommendations and highlights the role of daily nut and dried fruit consumption.”
During the event, the INC will also unveil an exciting new sustainability initiative, further advancing sustainable practices in the nut and dried fruit industry.
Goretti Guasch, Executive Director of the INC, said: “Nutrition research lies at the heart of the INC’s mission, helping to advance evidence and obtain a health claim for nuts. At the same time, we are proud to introduce a major sustainability initiative that will drive sustainability practices across the industry.”
