On January 26, 2017 INC attended the meeting of the Joint Working Groups Died Fruit & Nuts of the European Federation of the Trade in Dried Fruit & Edible Nuts, Processed Fruit & Vegetables, Processed Fishery products, Spices, Honey (FRUCOM).The meeting was attended by representatives of different organizations and companies in the nut and dried fruit sector from several countries, such as Belgium, Chile, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, UK and USA.FRUCOM presented the latest updates and work on pesticides, trade and customs matters, EU border controls, food contaminants and additives. Representatives of the European Commission DG SANTE informed about the latest changes to the control frequency at EU borders (Commission Implementing Regulations 2016/2106 and 2016/2107) and the re-evaluation of the safety of permitted food additives which includes sorbates and sulphites. Continuing with additives, the Aegean Exporters Association and Celanese gave an update on sulphites and sorbates, respectively.
