NUTS 2025: World’s Top Health Researchers Gather at INC Headquarters

The world’s leading nutrition researchers gathered at INC headquarters for NUTS 2025, a landmark meeting advancing the science of nuts and dried fruits. Bringing together 28 top researchers from around the globe, the meeting reviewed the latest scientific evidence and set priorities for future research on the health benefits of nuts and dried fruits. INC Tariff Report & Updates
This month, the INC’s tariff roundup highlights two major developments in US trade policy: President Donald Trump’s announcement of a reduction in tariffs on Chinese goods and an increase in tariffs on imports from Canada. INC Joins High-Level EU Talks on Sustainability, Food Safety, and Trade Risks

On October 1, the INC attended a meeting in Brussels, Belgium, with officials from the European Commission’s DG AGRI, DG SANTE and DG ENV. Organized by FRUCOM-CEEREAL, the event convened around 90 participants from 16 countries representing the nut, dried fruit, and breakfast cereal sectors. Nickel ML for Pecans Back Under Review

Recently INC participated in a joint FRUCOM-CEEREAL event in Brussels, with officials from the European Commission’s DG AGRI, DG SANTE and DG ENV. One of the key topics addressed was the maximum level (ML) for nickel in pecans. The current limit, set at 3.5 µg/kg as of July 1, 2025, was established due to limited availability of data. INC Submits Comment to European Commission on Food and Feed Safety Simplification
On October 14, the INC formally submitted its response to the European Commission’s Call for Evidence on the Food and Feed Safety – Simplification Omnibus. The INC called for greater clarity and harmonization in the interpretation of existing provisions governing the handling of non-compliant consignments. The INC urged the Commission to provide unified guidance to ensure consistent application of the Official Controls Regulation across Member States. [Read more]
